The “Wall of Sormano” is a climb famous for being one of the most severe in any road cycling race, with an average gradient of 17% and a maximum of 25%. Recently restored in 2006, it now features split-times and stenciled quotes from riders. The current record time for the short but painful 1.7 km long climb is 7 minutes 36 seconds.
